A clean water well thanks to funds raised by CEFA schools.
Following the thrill of the inauguration ceremony of the clean water well built at the Mehandan public elementary school in Cameroon, funded through donations collected during the 2022 Christmas Choir, CEFA schools have renewed their commitment to solidarity. The funds raised during the 2023 Christmas Choir were therefore dedicated to bringing water to a public elementary school in Chad. The recent ceremony, where the representative of the local municipality handed over the key to the pump’s padlock to the school principal, was a moving experience. It was followed by an even more breathtaking moment: the children of the school rushing joyfully to access the water!
Thanks to CEFA and to the generosity of CEFA families, clean water is now accessible to this school community as well! The spirit with which CEFA collects and allocates funds to solidarity projects goes beyond mere donations—it is the key to fostering the autonomous growth of communities in a spirit of harmony and collaboration. In response to our initiative, the parent-teacher association of Mehandan school engaged all the families in the village and established a well-management committee. The committee now has a manager and a treasurer responsible for systematically collecting contributions for the well’s maintenance costs.
More than a year since its opening, the well remains fully operational and accessible to anyone in need, even outside school hours.
Solidarity is contagious!
