Using digital tools mindfully to preserve the quality of relationships
Technology offers extraordinary opportunities: it allows us to access knowledge, stay in touch with people far away, and develop new skills. However, when the digital experience becomes predominant, it risks replacing – rather than complementing – human relationships.
In this context, parents play a central role. Not only because they set rules and boundaries, but above all because they serve as models of digital behavior.
Children learn by observing
Se gli adulti utilizzano continuamente il telefono, anche i più piccoli tenderanno a percepirlo come un oggetto indispensabile.
Increasingly, we observe situations in which family moments are interrupted by notifications or filled with digital content; alternatively, shared time is replaced by the simultaneous but distracted presence of multiple devices, promoting communication dynamics more through chats and messages than through direct interaction
For this reason, it becomes necessary to establish rules at home and build educational alliances among families: if common principles are shared — for example, regarding the age for a first smartphone or usage limits — it becomes easier to guide children without feeling isolated or at odds with others.
